I LOVED the FT's restaurant dining rules. Genius launch idea for the new line-up. The comments from the panel are hilarious. Something that I will be referring to time and time again.
It's great to read this for the first time, Marshall. What is the reasoning behind pressuring restaurants to eliminate cashless payment options? (He says, stroking his chin suspiciously.) I remember being impressed by how quickly the food industry adapted during COVID-19; in my opinion, it was one of the most agile responses made by any industry on a global scale.
Thanks for the comment! Re: motivations... The campaign group says it excludes people who manage finances by handling cash. Their initial targets were the big pub chains. But I think the argument is pretty flimsy.
I agree with you about the RTO mandates. There are benefits, but my own opinion is that it hurts more than it solves, and it disproportionately affects women, which the Economist piece nicely summarizes. I don't believe that businesses that suffered during COVID did so because people were not working together under the same roof. It was because of other factors. Hybrid working is the solution to enable people to make connections and create working relationships, while offering people the flexibility to work from home. This will not work for all industries (e.g. factories and logistics), but we are not talking about those places anyway.

Totally agree. I loved the whole tone of everything. And amazing that they assembled such a good panel.

Thanks for the comment, Liam. I entirely agree!
