I was disappointed by a recent meal at Mountain. The bill seemed excessive for what we had. It was fine dining pricing for casual dining food I felt. I didn't really get any sense of it being a pub though to be honest and I haven't seen it described as such anywhere else.
Fair enough. it's been interesting talking to people about Mountain. I broadly liked my experience, but found that it didn't quite know what it was trying to be. Maybe the pub description isn't right. But it was trying to be familiar and neighbourhood while also gourmet and elevated. And that didn't work for me. But a lot of people I've talked to have said they didn't think the food actually reached gourmet / elevated or didn't justify the price. I'm not quite there, but I appreciate that perspective.
